The Lesson (White Rug) (2026) shows the mother on her knees, with her daughter riding on her, making a speech about something. The daughter is, in turn, holding her doll on her lap, signifying the generational patterns we set in motion when we care for our children- the main way people learn how to parent is by being parented (or not) themselves. The scene is set in a space that is both domestic and wild- they are on a lush white rug, but in the background is a jungle of ferns- they are either on the threshold of wildness or have a nice wallpaper at home.
